The Mayor of Maipú, Tomás Vodanovic, has announced the filing of a lawsuit against those responsible for a horrifying case of animal cruelty involving a dog that was burned in an empty lot within the municipality.
According to the local newspaper La Batalla de Maipú, the incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 7, in the northwest sector of Maipú, and was reported by the Ecological Group Villa El Sol.
Witnesses who rushed to the scene after noticing smoke described the dog as wearing a pink coat, suggesting that it had an owner.
«In light of the emergency, neighbors immediately notified municipal security by calling 1418,» states the report from La Batalla de Maipú, adding that the community suspects individuals experiencing homelessness who have been permanently residing in the area.
Upon learning of the attack, Mayor Vodanovic announced the intention to file the lawsuit, emphasizing that «when such boundaries are crossed, institutions have a duty to respond decisively.»
«We will not tolerate acts of animal cruelty, especially with this level of brutality. We will exhaust all available actions to ensure that the perpetrator is punished to the fullest extent of the law,» stated the municipal leader.
